1G Collection Luxury Handbags Now Available
May 28, 2008 Washington, DC the 1G Collection, a line of luxury handbags, is now being sold at Saks Jandel, Chevy Chase, Maryland. The line is inspired by the style and life of the legendary screen icon, Greta Garbo, who led a life of independence, grace, and natural beauty.
The genesis of the 1G Collection came when Stasia Reisfield and her husband were moving from Virginia to San Francisco. Her husband had saved a number of handbags and suitcases owned by his aunt, the legendary actress, Greta Garbo. Stasia appreciated the quality and timeless elegance of the handbags.
On one there was a monogram "1G", rather than "GG" or "G". The story of this monogram is that Greta Garbo ordered a monogram of one "G." This was interpreted by the manufacturer to mean "1G", and the bag came back with the "1G" monogram. Garbo, who has a wonderful sense of humor, decided this was rather funny inside joke and kept the bag, hence the name, "1G Collection" -For discerning individuals in the know And with a sense of humor... Garbo's exquisite style inspires the first 1G Collection of luxury bags.
All of the silhouettes and raw materials chosen reflect her effortless style - clean lines, classic shapes, precise decoration and timeless quality. Many clients prefer 1G's line to other designers due to the embodiment of form, function and value. Most importantly, each 1G handbag is part of a limited edition.
1G's line is known as "the in the know bag" as opposed to the recent trends of "it" bags. The mix of drama and grounded practicality popped with color and lush leathers and fabrics which are Garbo's signature will be stylish for years to come.
1G Collection was founded by Stasia Reisfield, a native Washingtonian, who is dedicated to upholding the iconic heritage and legendary style of an icon. 1G has the highest guidelines for its vendors. Saks Jandel is independently owned boutique by the Marx family of Washington. Their niche is high style and high fashion from well-known names like Valentino, Yves St. Laurent and Yohji Yamamoto. They also carry designs by Max Mara, Michael Kors, Rebecca Moses and Sonja Rykiel in the main part of the store. They are located at 5510 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
